There are those moments in your work and life when you feel: something is changing. Not because you planned it, but because it almost happens naturally. That's how the transition Bravas made felt, from the kilim boots produced in Morocco to the new collection currently made in Spain. A shift that proved logical but at the same time felt like a new chapter; one where everything comes together.
This is my first blog since the launch of our new boots, and that's why I want to share the whole story with you. Unembellished and exactly how Bravas came to be: by following what feels right, by making choices with my heart and with respect for the people who make the products.
The beginning: Morocco
Bravas was born from my love for Morocco. For the colors, the patterns, the imperfections, the stories you can literally feel in every vintage kilim. Our first boots were interwoven with that world. Each pair was a piece of history brought back to life.
Morocco brought character, color, and warmth. And it still does; the kilims are and remain the heart of our boots. That will never change.
But there was another place that shaped me
Besides Morocco, there is another country that has influenced a large part of my life and creativity for much longer: Spain.
The Mediterranean warmth.
The light that falls differently everywhere.
The pace that is softer, calmer, almost self-evident.
The gentleness of the people.
The aesthetic of simplicity, color, and sun.
Spain has long been a place where I feel at home.
Where my mind becomes still and my creativity sparks.
Where I get ideas, where I see, feel, and collect things.
That fondness for Spain runs deep, and without realizing it immediately, it became a natural foundation for how I wanted Bravas to grow.
The atmosphere we exude... that warm, sunny, Mediterranean softness... I've carried that with me for a very long time.
And from that feeling, the next step almost came naturally.
Why production moved to Spain
As Bravas grew, one thing was certain: I wanted to make boots that were even better, stronger, and more refined, without losing the character that the kilims bring.
And that led me to Spanish artisans.
Makers who have been producing boots for generations at a pace that feels right: with attention, with precision, with love for their craft.
Valverde del Camino is such a place.
A region where boots are not just products, but heritage.
A place that carries the same warmth as the rest of Spain, but with the depth of tradition.
It felt like the circle was complete:
Moroccan kilims telling their story,
processed by hands that breathe Spanish craftsmanship,
brought together in an aesthetic that I have cherished for so long.
From Morocco to Spain, two worlds, one story.
The transition: intuitive and honest
The change was almost self-evident.
It was a feeling.
A longing for that combination of soul (Morocco) and perfection (Spain).
I wanted boots that were not only unique but also technically refined.
That fit even better.
That lasted even longer.
That carried the warmth of the south, of both those countries.
And that is precisely what is emerging now.
