Material and maintenance Kilim Boots
Maintenance of Kilim Boots
Our kilim boots are handmade from tanned leather and wool kilim rugs. This combination of natural materials requires careful care. With proper maintenance, the boots will remain beautiful and last a long time.
Cleaning
Kilim (wool):
Use a soft brush or a slightly damp cloth to gently remove dirt or dust. Avoid rubbing or harsh cleaning agents. For stains, simply dab with a clean cloth, cold water, and mild soap. Do not submerge or machine wash.
Learn:
Clean the leather with a dry cloth or a special leather cleaning cloth. Apply a natural leather balm or conditioner periodically to keep the leather supple. Do not use any chemicals.
Protection
Before first use, treat your boots with a water and dirt repellent spray, suitable for both leather and wool. Repeat this every few months, depending on use and weather conditions. If your boots get wet, let them dry at room temperature, away from direct heat sources such as heaters or sunlight.
Storage
Store the boots in a dry, well-ventilated place. Use shoe trees or stuff the boots with paper to help them retain their shape. Avoid storing them in plastic bags; both leather and wool are natural materials that need to breathe.
Timeless with the right care
With careful attention and regular maintenance, Kelim Boots will stay in good condition for years to come. Each pair is unique in pattern and finish. Proper care helps preserve their character, fit, and quality.
